Taiko no Tatsujin - Funashi promo

Full of Funashi.

Taiko rainin more joy on arcades this mint with their Don x Funashi crossover. Anyone landing in Japan since the best part of the beginning of the year will be well acquainted with Chiba Funabashi's mascot Funashi. His hyper bounding and screeching voice have made him a beloved "yurokyara" (mascot) in Japan and with his own line of sweets, TV specials and endorsing everything from Pizza to pesticides has finally reached the epoch of merchandising - Taiko no Tatsujin.

The prizes look pretty dope, Banapass users will have exclusive access to these highly limited and sort after goods. Choosing selected song and achieving certain scores will enter you into prize draws. A must for all Funashi / Don fans.

Taiko no Tatsujin - Sangaria

Ichi, ni, Sangaria!

The past few months have been pretty good to Taiko fans, with candy crossovers, McDonalds toys and now the extremely limited run of Sangaria soft drinks.

Promoting healthy (or healthier) soft drinks, the Osaka based beverage company is relatively small compared to monster companies such as Kirin and Suntory. However this latest run is helping to reaffirm itself as the fun party brand.

Their slogan "Ichi, ni, Sangria!" Is a play on the Japanese words "one, two, three" (ichi, ni, san).

Oishi-Don!

Arcade "St. Tropez" - Ikebukuro

As close as you'll get to the Carnival Night Zone.
Awesome place, hella spacious, well kept and essentially maintained by the huge casino on the 3rd floor and a mega pachinko place on B1.
All the biggest and best arcade titles of the moment, small FGC community selection but well worth visiting - SEGA GIGO is next door but the vibe is pretty dark. Definitely worth hitting this place once and a while to see the climate of gaming in Tokyo.

Campaign - "Taiko no Tasujin"

Itsawesome.

To celebrate the release of MarioKart DX in the arcades this month, the Don bro's are taking on the Mario Bro's.

Left side players Mario, right side Luigi.

Arcade "Namco" - Nakano, Tokyo

Hell of a spacious and well thought out floor space makes this an awesome place to game. Definitely supporting the UFO catcher scene first and foremost but also have every current Namco cab on release too.

Central Tokyo arcades have a tendency to over-cab their places leading to a lot of distractions while playing. Blows trying to focus whilst gettin nudged in the back.

Being a Namco arcade they also hold fortnightly tournaments to keep things fresh, hygienic and non-smoking areas make it a cert for our upcoming meet ups.

Entertainment Megamart "Dorama", Hakonegasaki

Mad selection of books, manga , figures and games. Better to buy here than sell stuff (lil like Akiba). Few arcade machines backed up in most Dorama joints but essentially a UFO catcher arcade area.

If you're out and about driving in Tokyo you'll probably find one of these places on the roadside in the middle of nowhere.

McDonDonalds

Current McDonalds campaign giveaways in Japan this month - Arcade items and Happy Meals! Awesome.

The McDons of marketing

Great to see gaming merch at McDonalds, showing just how big Taiko no Tatsujin is in Japan.

During the McCampaign, exclusive items have been been released on arcade taiko machines - McFries-don and McShake-don (awesome).
